Painting

I just got home from doing a New York Cares day with a bunch of other IBM employees. We went down to the Sarah Roosevelt Park, which stretches from Houston to Hester on Chrystie street and painted the playground there. It was a wreck when we showed up -- I mean, it really looked ghetto.

We cleaned and painted form 9:30 am until about 2pm and basically hit every surface -- walls, benched, railings, playground equipment and more. It was pretty daunting at first, but I can't believe we got it all done. We really transformed the place.

And it was a perfect day for it too -- one of the first beautiful spring days we've had this year.

As soon as I get some photos I'll post them up. But now, a nap! I'm beat.

I've only ever read about people cleaning up playgrounds. And while that's still true, now I can say I rock-out 'til paint peels from the walls with somebody who's done the playground thing. Thank you for enriching my life. I am now a voyeur. And I'm OK w/ that.
